Doing it the Right Way:
Right Way Trucking was founded in 2002 as a one truck, one trailer
owner operator com-pany by Jack Magdiel. Jack is an engineer by
education and so has taken an engineer-ing approach to the growth and
operational control of Right Way Trucking. Additionally, before Right
Way Trucking purchased its first truck, it was founded on a set of
basic busi-ness foundations and principles that would be the basis for
all decisions and how it oper-ates. During the recession we have all
been experiencing, many companies have failed or just closed their
doors. Right Way Trucking has been one of the fortunate companies that
has survived. Why have some survived when so many failed?
In a recent Fortune Magazine article, Jim Collins offered the
following. He said, “in times of great duress, tumult, and uncertainty,
you have to have your moorings”. “Companies that survive must have an
incredible fabric of values, of underlying ideals and principles that
explained why it was important that they existed.” One of those values
is that the customer must be able to depend on the fact that the
product or service is what they say it is. In times of duress, all
companies must look at everything to cut costs and improve operations.
Without a set of core principles, many cut in areas that undermine
their ability to provide a quality service.
Collins went on to say that many companies that survived the great
depression, “really understood that it was the caliber of their people
that would get them through. When there’s a storm on the mountain, more
important than the plan are the people you have with you”. One of the
core values of Right Way Trucking is to never compromise on the quality
of the people we hire. Right Way Trucking has survived and expects to
emerge from this recession even stronger because more than anything
else our basic core values and principles never have and never will be
compromised. (See basic foundation principles on this web site.) |
